Severity-based escalation

PagerDuty starts at $19/user/month for what amounts to this exact pattern. StatusPulse ships it as a Pro feature — no extra per-seat math.

Why you need it

A timer function sweeps active high-severity incidents every minute. When a Critical incident has gone 15 min without a public update (or 30 min for Major), it pages every Owner / Admin TenantMember with SMS (when their phone is set) and email.

  • Severity-tiered thresholds. Critical = 15 min, Major = 30 min. Minor / None don't escalate — operator can manually escalate via severity edit.
  • Internal incidents excluded. Internal-only / proposed / scheduled / resolved incidents are skipped — the escalation is about customer-visible comms responsiveness, not internal workflow.
  • Per-incident cooldown. 30 min between escalations on the same row so an unresponsive operator gets one nudge, not a flood.
  • Brand-styled email + 160-char SMS. Email has a green CTA to open the incident; SMS is truncated with a deep-link.

Where it pays off

Replaces a chunk of standalone paging tooling:

  • Solo founder on-call. You forgot to update the page after the first 15 min — the SMS forces a re-engage.
  • Small team rotating on-call. Catches handoff gaps where the previous person resolved themselves and the next person didn't see it.
  • Compliance "incident response" requirement. Auditor asks for evidence of structured escalation — the sweep's audit-log entries are the evidence.
